Filed under: Me, Memes.Edited on 8/14/09: I was tagged for the 25 Things Meme by Carrisa, from and so she blogs, that was running rampant in the blogosphere in early 2009. I’m on Facebook, but as my real life self and, like Costanza, I don’t let my worlds collide. But, I did create a list of 25 Things You Did Not Realize You Were Dying to Know.
- I curse like a sailor in real life, but I seldom, if ever, curse on my blog or on Twitter. If you met me in person I’d probably be dropping F-bombs like Snoop Dog and say “dude!” more often than a So Cal surfer. It’s terrible.
- I once lived in a motel on the beach for 3 months.
- I think the weirdest thing about growing up is not waking up in the same house as my siblings. (2 sisters age 28 and 22; 1 brother age 25).
- My first hangover was in 2nd grade. I had to call out of Catholic school sick.
- I tried out for field hockey, soccer, winter cheerleading and softball in high school. I only made field hockey and soccer because they didn’t cut anyone from the team.
- In soccer I was given MVP JV squad although I was arguably one of the worst players on the team. I got it because I opted out of the Varsity squad (it was my right as a senior to be on varsity) so that the JV team would have enough players to make up a full squad. I was just going to sit bench in Varsity anyway.
- I have a freakish ability to identify voices on t.v. and second-rate celebrities. But, until I met my husband, I couldn’t tell Pacino and DeNiro apart.
- I have been to 25 U.S. states and 10 foreign countries, a few multiple times.
- My first trip abroad was to Germany when I was in high school. I saved up all my babysitting money and paid for it all myself. I also went to Amsterdam and Austria on that trip. I did the Sound of Music tour in Saltzburg, Austria.
- Travel is really important to me, but I don’t get to do it nearly enough.
- I love dictionaries and thesauruses. I am always looking words up, but I can’t spell for shit.
- My favorite animal is currently the penguin. The penguin unseated the monkey, which I now find to be a very dirty animal.
- I am completely oblivious to my surroundings. I’ve walked through drug deals! JUST TODAY I sat down next to someone on the subway fiddling with his, uh, white powdery substance. I didn’t notice except the lady across from me was giving him the “hard stare.”
- Once I was almost jumped by pre-teens. I did the “WHAT? YOU GONNA STEP?” thing with my arms and they ran away. Seriously. Pre-teens.
- I once used the term “hairy eyeball” in an interview. I thought it was the same as evil eye, but I am told it actually means something QUITE DIFFERENT: bending over and showing someone your, uh, other eye. OBVIOUSLY NOT the context I quite intended in an interview.
- I had my tongue pierced in college for a year. I got mono and took it out.
- I love to bake, but brownies from a box mix are my favorite type of brownie.
- The only kind of candy I really like are expensive chocolates, naturally, and jelly belly jelly beans. I just ate about 1/4 lb of jelly beans.
- When I was little and playing Barbies/Dolls, I could never think of a last name so I always used the word “tobacco.”
- I played the cornet from 4th grade until 12th. My mom paid me $1 a day to practice.
- I made myself McHammer parachute pants in 5th grade. They were an olive green patterned cotton fabric and I loved them.
- In 6th grade I learned about Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and how she was the first female Justice of the Supreme Court. That day I decided I was going to be a lawyer and a Supreme Court Justice. Unfortunately I did not go to good enough schools to be a Supreme Court Justice.
- In college I decided that I was really more suited to be a poet. I later decided that I was a really bad poet. My ex-boyfriend’s family, thank goodness, convinced me to apply to law school. (Well, see #25.)
- There are two places in the world I want to visit the most: the beaches of Normandy where my Grandfather landed on D-Day and the pyramids in Egypt.
- I was fired (or let go) for the first time in my life at 30. 2009 blows.
Fin.

umm,
YOU GOT PAID TO PRACTICE??
and what happened to candy corn and M&Ms?
January 30th, 2009 at 12:31 pm
Oh, "Anonymous," I never actually practiced or COLLECTED any money for practicing. You know how it was. You are also probably too young to remember how I received the damn thing wrapped and under the tree every year for Christmas!
About the candy corn, although it used to be my FAVORITE candy ever, this year it was just TOO SWEET. I still like peanut M&Ms, and still eat the peanuts out first, but not as much as I used to.

Oh, I’ve not had Jelly Bellies in FAR TOO LONG.

Jelly bellies are the bomb. Come visit in SF, we can go out to their factory where they give out FREE SAMPLES on their tour!
Penguins have always been my favorite animal, even though they have a reputation of not being very friendly towards humans. I think it’s their wobbling that draws people in…?
